Showcase Your Skills With Behind the Scenes Footage

The world of photography is changing shape. All too often we go out and conduct our shoot, many times solo. However, there is a growing trend of having behind the scenes footage taken even on relatively small shoots. Does this mean you have to hire a professional videography company? Of course not, we need to remain as financially viable as possible. However, that does not mean creating video is not possible. Here are a few steps to help you incorporate and showcase your photography from behind the use

  1. Bring on an assistant to take still and video feeds (great to incorporate on test shoots where everyone is portfolio building)
  2. Use already existing photography equipment if it contains a video recording option (no one is asking you to become a trained videographer)
  3. Worst case scenario, use an iPhone (compared to some cameras, if you are still outdated, the iPhone has more megapixels and HD capabilities)
  4. Use already existing slideshow software such as iMovie or the Lightroom slideshow feature
  5. Incorporate video footage along with 5-7 fully edited images from the shoot
  6. Download free music tracks (until you can afford Triple Scoop Music) and be sure to give the source their credit
  7. Upload to YouTube, Vimeo, and your blog

And you are done! Your behind the scenes footage displaying your work ethic and abilities has been shared with everyone to see.
